Women in the workplace still having problems!
everyone is having a very enjoyable weekend.
This morning I'd like to touch on a favorite peeve of mine and that is women
in the workplace. Let's be honest here: Despite the fact that there have
been many positive changes for women in the workplace, there is very much
more that needs to be done when it comes to women having more than a decent
opportunity at being able to compete on a level playing field. A recently
published survey in the United States reveals that upon graduation, women
can expect to make an average of less than 20% in their chosen profession
and it gets even worse for them as time goes on. This survey also reveals
that even after the first three years in the workplace, the difference in
salary for women versus men is 30% less for women.
How can women be expected to be motivated to do their best at their chosen
jobs and professions when these types of stats exist? True it is that women
have come a long way in improving or closing the gap in the workplace, but
it's simply not enough. The majority of corporate boardrooms in the united
States are still being run by men. Women are still very much under
represented in the boardromms across America, and I believe that women only
make up about 5% of boardrooms today. There still exists that famous glass
ceiling for women in the workplace and there's no denying it.
Women have started to become more and more prominent in the medical field
and recent trends are showing that more and women are graduating as medical
professionals and at the same time less and less men are doing so. However,
it's not the same in the business field. As a matter of fact, the number of
female graduates from business schools across America is dropping
drastically and the experts are saying that this may have to do with women
becoming fedup and tired of being treated like second class citizens in the
boardrooms and the workplace as a whole.
I think that it's time for women to start thinking of creating their own
opportunities. The time has come for women to become more creative, more
innovative, and more imaginative. The small business and entrepreneurial
world awaits those women who are committed and serious about becoming true
business leaders. Time for women to think about showing off their skills,
grit, and it can be done. If you're not sure how to start looking, where to
look, and what to do, then please give a read to the info below.

The cheapest university tuition in North America is?
share a news flash with you.
With rising tuition fees a constant problem for students across North
America I'd like to share something very useful with our students. The
cheapest university tuition in North America today can be found in Quebec!
Yes, Quebec! A very beautiful province in Eastern Canada.
This province also referred to as La Belle Province, boasts of several
leading universities in the world. Among these are McGill university
situated in down town Montreal, Concordia university also situated in down
town Montreal, and the Université de Monréal.
McGill University is one of the leading universities in the world. Known
for its research work in the field of medicine, it also boasts of one of the
best faculties of medicine, along with leading faculties of law, business
administration, and dentistry.
Concordia university also has excellent credentials for its faculties of
computer science and information technology, music, and fine arts.
The Université de Monréal is also known for its excellence in law, medicine,
and language.
Montreal itself is a very wonderful and very picturesque city for students.
The city continues to hum with activities that include: Rich entertainment
at night, excellent dining and cuisine, refreshing outdoor activities such
as ice skating, skiing, golfing, lawn bowling, football, plus much more.
I can tell you from personal experience that the dining and cuisine are
absolutely superb. Montreal is made up of several cultures and as a result
the cuisine does not suffer for a lack of imagination, gusto, taste, and
creation.
Montreal is home to English Canadians, French Canadians, thousands of
Europeans, and Middle Eastern and Eastern cultures. Everyone gets along and
racial harmony is the order of the day. Despite its cold weather in the
winter, the people of Montreal are extremely warm towards visitors and they
go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome.
Give it some consideration if you're looking for cheaper but excellent
tuition fees from excellent universities.
Now for some very important information.
Looking for ideas and opportunities to crack the over 50s market? The baby
boomer market? The seniors market? Other niche markets?

Are cell phones wiping out our bees? Plus more?
Scientists claim radiation from handsets are to blame for mysterious 'colony
collapse' of bees
By Geoffrey Lean and Harriet Shawcross
The Independent (UK ) , 15 April 2007
It seems like the plot of a particularly far-fetched horror film. But some
scientists suggest that our love of the mobile phone could cause massive food
shortages, as the world's harvests fail.
They are putting forward the theory that radiation given off by mobile
phones and other hi-tech gadgets is a possible answer to one of the more bizarre
mysteries ever to happen in the natural world - the abrupt disappearance of the bees that
pollinate crops. Late last week, some bee-keepers claimed that the phenomenon - which
started in the US, then spread to continental Europe - was beginning to hit Britain
as well.
The theory is that radiation from mobile phones interferes with bees' navigation
systems, preventing the famously homeloving species from finding their way
back to their hives. Improbable as it may seem, there is now evidence to back this
up.
Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) occurs when a hive's inhabitants suddenly
disappear, leaving only queens, eggs and a few immature workers, like so many apian
Mary Celestes.
The vanished bees are never found, but thought to die singly far from home.
The parasites, wildlife and other bees that normally raid the honey and pollen left behind
when a colony dies, refuse to go anywhere near the abandoned hives.
The alarm was first sounded last autumn, but has now hit half of all
American states.
The West Coast is thought to have lost 60 per cent of its commercial bee
population, with 70 per cent missing on the East Coast.
CCD has since spread to Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Italy and
Greece.
And last week John Chapple, one of London's biggest bee-keepers, announced
that 23 of his 40 hives have been abruptly abandoned.
Other apiarists have recorded losses in Scotland, Wales and north-west England, but
the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs insisted: "There
is absolutely no evidence of CCD in the UK."
The implications of the spread are alarming. Most of the world's crops
depend on pollination by bees. Albert Einstein once said that if the bees disappeared,
"man would have only four years of life left".
No one knows why it is happening. Theories involving mites, pesticides,
global warming and GM crops have been proposed, but all have drawbacks.
German research has long shown that bees' behaviour changes near power
lines.
Now a limited study at Landau University has found that bees refuse to
return to their hives when mobile phones are placed nearby. Dr Jochen Kuhn, who
carried it out, said this could provide a "hint" to a possible cause.
Dr George Carlo, who headed a massive study by the US government and mobile
phone industry of hazards from mobiles in the Nineties, said: "I am convinced the
possibility is real."
The case against handsets Evidence of dangers to people from mobile phones is increasing. But proof is
still lacking, largely because many of the biggest perils, such as cancer, take
decades to show up.
Most research on cancer has so far proved inconclusive. But an official
Finnish study found that people who used the phones for more than 10 years were 40 percent more likely to get a brain tumour on the same side as they held the handset.
Equally alarming, blue-chip Swedish research revealed that radiation from
mobile phones killed off brain cells, suggesting that today's teenagers could go
senile in the prime of their lives.
Studies in India and the US have raised the possibility that men who use
mobile phones heavily have reduced sperm counts. And, more prosaically, doctors have
identified the condition of "text thumb", a form of RSI from constant texting.
Professor Sir William Stewart, who has headed two official inquiries,
warned that children under eight should not use mobiles and made a series of safety
recommendations, largely ignored by ministers.
